Firstcomm Case Study: Outsauce

“Recruitment partnership, bringing experience, knowledge and genuinely adding value”

Project Detail

Outsauce is a market leading recruitment business support provider, who is responsible for the payroll, accountancy and contractor services for a large number of recruitment agencies. Their philosophy is to take care of support functions, to allow their clients to focus on their core recruitment business. Originally trading as part of the Oriel Group from 2001, they have worked with several hundred recruitment agencies, ensuring that thousands of contractors get paid correctly and on time.

In 2012, Outsauce was born, as part of a major business transformation project. With some substantial venture capital backing, Outsauce would now be positioned to provide a cohesive range of back office services to their existing client base, as well as significantly grow the company.

The Brief

The brief was to ensure that Outsauce had the right skills on board, to take them to the next level. Outsauce invested heavily in new technology, which would automate processes and support their expansion plans. . The CEO of Outsauce selected Firstcomm due to our track record in taking the time to understanding the needs of our clients, then deliver solid results. Over the next two years, with the help from Firstcomm they hired the following positions: A payroll manager, a management accountant, some contract based project accountants, two business development managers, a resource manager, and an HR assistant

The solution

The most challenging aspect of this role was finding the skills in the Cheltenham location. Here the candidate pool is very small and unemployment is lower than the national average. Firstcomm embarked on an ongoing headhunting campaign, which involved tapping into the passive candidate market, as it is unlikely these people would be responding directly to job boards. Outsauce were also extremely mindful about finding the right people, from a team culture perspective. Firstcomm was able to identify and approach a targeted shortlist of candidates, and manage the process through several rounds of interviews, as well as the offer and acceptance stage. Furthermore, we have been working with their new HR team to offer advice on how to manage recruitment spend, by sourcing certain future roles themselves.
